The Dolphin Encounters education team is thrilled to announce the return of the Dolphin Encounters Seaventure Summer Camp.
Back for another summer of seaside learning and fun, the camp opens its doors to kids ages four to 14 on June 22. With eight exciting themes planned for the camp’s six weeks, campers across the age spectrum are sure to be entertained, enlightened and empowered through knowledge.
Like years past, the Dolphin Encounters team is offering something for every participant with a variety of themed weeks featuring a range of educational topics including:
- Marine mammal education;
- Marine animal adaptation and camouflage;
- The unique traits of aquatic animals;
- Ocean predators;
- Unique habitats found in some of the world’s continents;
- Sea animal survival.
Hands-on and up-close experiences with animals and the great outdoors are what make the Seaventure Summer Camp truly unforgettable. Campers will be hot on the trail of dolphins, sea lions, sharks, fish and other ocean creatures that are featured in each week of camp in sea lessons, games and crafts. Active adventures include the shallow-water dolphin encounter, swimming, snorkeling, beach games and playing in the Aqua Park and Inflatable Park.
The Seaventure Summer Camp offers both weekly and daily registration. Each week’s itinerary includes:
- Dolphin encounter;
- 5”x7” dolphin photo;
- Marine activities;
- Crafts and games;
- Access to the aqua and bounce parks;
- Swimming and snorkeling;
- Two camp shirts;
- Backpack and water bottle;
- Lunch and snacks.
Camp will be held Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those who are registered as day campers will take part in marine activities and arts and crafts. They will also have access to the aqua and bounce parks and receive a backpack and name tag as well as water, lunch and snacks. Day campers are free to register for any day of the week, however those who wish to ensure they get an opportunity to have a dolphin encounter should register for a Thursday. Day campers will also not receive a camp T-shirt.
Merit badges are one of the Seaventure summer camp’s highlights and are given out to campers registered in week-long sessions whose knowledge and skills have made them outstanding in a number of categories. Campers can demonstrate their progressive learning to earn a number of custom merit badges, such as the Marine Mammal Cadet and Defenders of the Sea badges.
The Seaventure Summer Camp takes pride in its health and safety precautions. Campers will be under the supervision of counselors from their arrival at the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal until they are collected by a parent or guardian at 4:30. Swim areas are monitored by certified lifeguards and all campers must wear flotation vests during all water sporting activities. This means that no camper – even one who cannot swim – has to be excluded from camp activities. Camp staff work with parents to best accommodate each child’s special needs, diet restrictions or medications.
Weekly registration per child is $220, and discounts are available for week-long registrants. Those campers who register for three weekly bookings will receive a discount of $40 for one of the weeks. Additionally, special rates are available to staff members of Dolphin Encounters and Blue Lagoon Island for bookings of their nieces, nephews, sons and daughters. Proof of relation may be required.
There will be no Seaventure Summer Camp held during the weeks of July 6 – 10 and August 3 – 7.
