Dolphin Encounters is pleased to announce its newest and only after-hours experience – a Bahamian dinner night and cruise. Taking place every Saturday until September 5, the cruise offers two convenient pick-up points: Prince George Wharf or the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal.
The unique evening excursion welcomes guests aboard a double deck catamaran for a scenic sunset cruise through Nassau Harbour to Blue Lagoon Island. On the way, those aboard can take in multi-million yachts and homes, historic sights and – of course – the country’s iconic water. If they’re lucky, guests will get a sneak peek at what the evening has in store, if they catch a glimpse of a particularly limber local legend zooming by on his boat.
Arriving in style as the sun sets, diners are greeted with their choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic welcome drinks, local hors d’oeuvres and friendly smiles at the tropical oasis. With a sweet ‘island breeze’ at their backs, guests can enjoy the buffet offering a selection of Bahamian favorites, like jerk chicken, macaroni and cheese, grilled fish and conch chowder. An onsite bartender stands at the ready to mix up cocktails at the fully-stocked cash bar.
While guests are filling their plates, a local DJ sets the mood with popular tunes, and during dinner, an energetic emcee keeps everyone entertained. Next up on the evening’s agenda is a performance by popular performer Action. Known for his daring fire tricks and extraordinary flexibility, Action dazzles diners with his performance, ending with his signature limbo. The emcee and DJ take over, and between doing the Electric Slide, guests are invited to the stage for games.
And though the dancefloor will be hot, those in search of a quiet getaway needn’t look further than one of the island’s many hammocks – perfect for stargazing! Blue Lagoon Island offers an unmatched opportunity for that Family Island feel only 20 minutes from Nassau.
Topping off the evening is a Junkanoo ‘rush-out’. One of the country’s most celebrated art forms, the Junkanoo parade has been preserved since the era of slavery in the country. Traditionally held on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, the parade involves vibrant costumes, dancing and live music played with cowbells, whistles and goat-skin drums. Dinner cruise guests will get a glimpse of a real Bahamian gem with a rhythmic rush-out escorting them back to the boat.
Boarding time for the dinner cruise begins at Prince George Dock each Saturday at 6:15 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. departure; guests departing from the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal are asked to begin boarding at 6:45 p.m. for a 7 p.m. departure.
The one-of-a-kind excursion is offered to adults for $99, inclusive of VAT and gratuities; children can join the fun for $59, including VAT and gratuities. To book, call 363-1003.
The Dolphin Encounters and Blue Lagoon Island teams are happy to accommodate private group bookings. For parties of 30 or more, contact the Dolphin Encounters Sales Department at 363-7168.
